Hi! I’m Mabel Rodriguez, and from now on I’ll be contributing to this blog =). I was advised that I should start by telling you how I got here. Well, the story is quite short: I have my own blog, but unfortunately, I don’t have much time to keep it active, so I was asked to join forces and have a blog that we could maintain… and well, that’s the story. -I think it also helped that the owner of Datapoetry likes me a lot, although he’ll never admit it =)-.
Okay, now for the interesting part…
There are different types of websites, each with different objectives and strategies:

The most well-known are those focused on selling something or generating leads, but there’s a significant market for content generation sites.
So… how do these types of sites generate revenue?
One of the most common ways is by selling advertising space. Most start with AdSense, but there comes a point where it’s necessary to control what kind of advertising appears on your site; after all, it’s your brand.
Then comes the stage of looking for ad management tools or ad servers. The most well-known are e-Planning and OpenX, but there’s a very powerful tool that very few people know about: DoubleClick for Publishers (DFP) – another tool from the search engine giant.

Personally, I find it a very powerful platform for managing ads, both for websites and apps.
One of its biggest advantages: it’s free for fewer than 90 million impressions per month—if we have that many visits, I think we’d no longer be considered a small business—which is good news for many of us.
Finally, here’s a video explaining how this platform works:
